Shrub Roses and Climbing Roses

Here are a few shrub roses and climbing roses that we have focused on this spring.

Austrian Copper is a rose that has been grown since the 1500s. The flowers are single with petals that are orange-scarlet on top and yellow underneath. The vivid blooms come in early summer on bushes that grow 4 to 6 feet high.

F. J. Grootendorst has double red flowers that bloom in midseason. The flowers that bloom may grow 8 feet tall but can be pruned to any desired height. This variety grows well in a pot and tolerates more shade than most roses.

Sir Thomas Lipton White double flowers come early in the season and are very fragrant. Bushes with deep green, leathery foliage may stand 6 feet tall or more.

Therese Bugnet blooms in spring or early summer, has red buds that open to become fragrant, double pink flowers. The foliage is blue green on bushes 4 to 6 feet tall.

Viking Queen is a climber that can be grown on a small trellis or a wall. It will grow 12 to 15 feet. The flowers are pink, 3 to 4 inches across and grow in clusters. The foliage is dark green and glossy.

Gold Rush is a strong climber that grows 7 to 10 feet. The yellow flowers are large and fragrant.
